The Opportunity & Solution

LanguageBuddy is a prototype platform developed in collaboration with academic language departments. It enables students to engage in real-time spoken conversation practice using GPT-4o. With built-in speech recognition and speech generation, students can simulate realistic scenarios and get conversational feedback that supports self-study.

The tool aims to reduce pressure on teaching staff and create more opportunities for practical language immersion.

Security & Ethics

No conversational data is stored or used for training. The tool runs in a closed environment and aligns with privacy policies applicable to the institution.

Scalability & Customisation

LanguageBuddy is currently developed as an MVP. It is being evaluated for broader rollout across different language programs and user groups. Further adaptations will depend on institutional needs and feedback.
